Frequently asked questions

Does the calculator count the end date?

By default it counts the days from the start date up to, but not including, the end date, which is how most deadlines and durations are measured. Tick the inclusive option to count both days.

How are weekdays counted?

Weekdays are Monday to Friday. Public holidays vary by country and are not subtracted, so treat the weekday count as working days before holidays.

What happens if the end date is earlier than the start date?

The tool reports the absolute number of days and notes that the end date comes first, so you never get a negative count by mistake.

Are leap years handled?

Yes. The calculation uses real calendar dates, so 29 February is counted in leap years such as 2024 and 2028.
