Frequently asked questions
How does Title Case decide which letters to capitalize?
Every word gets a capital first letter and lowercase for the rest. A word starts after a space, line break, hyphen or punctuation mark, while apostrophes stay inside a word, so "don't" becomes "Don't". Short words such as "a", "of" and "the" are capitalized too, so adjust by hand if you follow a style guide such as AP or Chicago.
What is the difference between Sentence case and Title Case?
Sentence case lowercases everything and then capitalizes only the first letter of each sentence, meaning the first letter after a period, exclamation mark, question mark or line break. Title Case capitalizes every word instead. Neither recognizes proper nouns or the pronoun "I", so re-capitalize names afterwards.
How are camelCase, snake_case and kebab-case built?
The text is split into words on spaces, hyphens, underscores, punctuation and camel-case humps, so "fooBar baz_qux" becomes foo, bar, baz and qux. camelCase joins them with the first word lowercase (fooBarBazQux), PascalCase capitalizes every word (FooBarBazQux), snake_case joins with underscores, kebab-case with hyphens and CONSTANT_CASE uses uppercase with underscores. Each line is converted on its own, so you can paste a whole list of names.
Does it work with Korean or accented text?
Yes. Upper and lower case follow Unicode rules, so é becomes É and ß becomes SS, while Korean, Japanese and Chinese characters have no case and pass through unchanged. The identifier styles keep those characters as words, so "주문 번호" in snake_case becomes 주문_번호.
Is my text sent anywhere?
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser and the text is never uploaded or stored, so it is safe for source code, contracts and anything confidential. Closing the page discards the text; copy the result first if you need to keep it.
